CAIRO - 15 June 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Maltese counterpart Chris Fearne discussed creating a joint business committee and launching the next round of political consultations to explore fresh partnerships in renewable energy, water desalination, tourism, and construction infrastructure.
On the sidelines of the Egypt-EU Partnership Council on Monday, Abdelatty highlighted Egypt's desire to scale up trade, investment, and commercial cooperation with Malta, both bilaterally and within the framework of the EU partnership.
Abdelatty briefed Fearne on the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, stressing the urgent need for coordinated regional and international action to execute the first phase of the Trump peace plan.
Turning to the crisis in Libya, Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's firm stance supporting the unity, stability, and sovereignty of the Libyan state.
He called for the unification of Libya's national institutions and backed a purely Libyan-led political solution free from foreign interference, emphasizing the need to hold synchronized presidential and parliamentary elections at the earliest possible opportunity.
