CAIRO – 15 June 2026: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty received a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on Monday.
During the call, Araqchi expressed his appreciation to Egypt and its leadership for their tireless efforts over the past months, including high-level contacts aimed at bridging gaps, overcoming challenges, and encouraging both parties to reach an agreement that would end the war.
He emphasized his country's reliance on Egypt to continue playing a constructive role in supporting the agreement, ensuring its sustainability, facilitating its implementation, and paving the way for a final settlement between the two sides.
The two ministers also discussed the provisions of the agreement that ended the war between the United States and Iran, as well as efforts to end hostilities on all fronts, including in Lebanon, in a manner that respects the country's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.
For his part, Abdelatty welcomed the agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that it would lead to a genuine transformation in restoring security and stability across the region.
He affirmed that Egypt would continue its diplomatic efforts to promote security and stability in the region.
The Foreign Minister also reiterated Egypt's full support for Lebanon and expressed solidarity with the country amid the current circumstances and challenges. He stressed the importance of an Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territory, and reaffirmed the necessity of strengthening and empowering state institutions, enforcing state sovereignty, and disarming all armed groups.
