CAIRO - 13 June 2026: A telephone call took place Saturday, between Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and Hussein al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine, as part of ongoing consultations and coordination regarding developments in the Palestinian territories.

Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the call addressed efforts to implement the requirements of the first phase of President Trump’s peace plan.

These efforts include ensuring full and sustained access for humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, deploying an international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire and secure the delivery of humanitarian assistance, and enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza to carry out its duties from within the Strip until the Palestinian Authority resumes its full responsibilities.

This will contribute to strengthening stability and creating the conditions for moving to the next phases of the settlement efforts.

Developments in the West Bank

The official spokesperson added that the call also addressed the dangerous developments in the West Bank, where Minister Abdelatty condemned the escalating pace of settlement activity and the continued Israeli violations in East Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, warning of the repercussions of these actions on the prospects for achieving peace and stability in the region.

During the call, the Foreign Minister affirmed Egypt's steadfast positions in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, foremost among them their right to establish their independent state on the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.

He stressed the necessity of enabling the Palestinian Authority to assume its responsibilities and preserving the unity of the Palestinian territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, considering this the foundation for any just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian issue.

For his part, Hussein al-Sheikh expressed his appreciation for Egypt's pivotal role in supporting the Palestinian cause and its ongoing efforts to halt the escalation, achieve calm, and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination and consultation in the coming period.
