CAIRO – 12 June 2026: An instructor pilot was killed and a female trainee was injured on Friday when a training aircraft belonging to the Egyptian Aviation Academy crashed at the 6th of October Airport, the Egyptian Ministry of Civil Aviation announced in a statement.

 

Civil Aviation Minister Sameh Al-Hefni immediately directed that maximum medical care and continuous monitoring be provided to the injured trainee, extending his wishes for her speedy recovery.

 

Minister Al-Hefni also ordered an urgent investigation into the causes and circumstances of the crash, tasking the ministry's Central Administration for Aviation Accidents to lead the probe. He emphasized that strict accountability would be enforced for anyone found responsible or negligent.

 

The Ministry of Civil Aviation reaffirmed its commitment to the highest international safety and security standards, stating that all necessary corrective measures will be taken based on the investigation's final findings to ensure air safety and maintain peak operational efficiency.
