CAIRO – 11 June 2026: Major General Engineer Mokhtar Abdel Latif, Chairman of the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI), received President Félix Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and his accompanying delegation.
The visit comes as part of the AOI’s efforts to strengthen economic and industrial partnerships and enhance cooperation with fellow African nations.
It also forms part of the organization’s ongoing initiatives to support collaboration with African partners, boost intra-African trade, and create new opportunities for economic and developmental partnerships.
The visit included extensive discussions on strengthening mechanisms for joint cooperation and leveraging the AOI’s advanced manufacturing and technological capabilities. The discussions focused on supporting development projects and the defense and security industries in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as exploring opportunities for collaboration across various manufacturing sectors.
Major General Mokhtar Abdel Latif emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with African countries, in line with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to expand cooperation and integration with African nations in the industrial and economic sectors and to support Egypt’s presence in African markets through new export channels.
The AOI chairman expressed pride in the distinguished relations between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, stressing the importance of continued coordination, joint action, and the expansion of cooperation, particularly in development projects, to support development efforts in the DRC, one of the Nile Basin countries.
During a tour of the AOI’s product exhibition, President Félix Tshisekedi praised the advanced industrial technologies showcased in the organization’s products, including armored vehicles, troop carriers, defense systems, fire trucks, cash transport vehicles, mobile ATMs, mobile technology centers, and medical equipment.
The Congolese president affirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening partnership and cooperation with Egypt across various industrial and developmental fields. He expressed his appreciation for the AOI’s role as one of Egypt’s leading industrial institutions and emphasized the importance of coordinating joint efforts to achieve industrial integration and localize advanced technologies in areas of mutual interest, thereby supporting development and industrialization plans in both countries.
President Tshisekedi also expressed his country’s appreciation for Egypt and its pivotal role on the African continent, highlighting its continued efforts to promote development and prosperity across Africa and its active contribution to strengthening joint African action, particularly in the areas of trade and intra-African investment.
