CAIRO - 11 June 2026: As part of the Egyptian government’s efforts to promote health awareness and support women’s health, the “100 Million Healthy Lives” presidential initiative, under the Ministry of Health and Population, renewed its call for women and girls to adopt healthy behaviors that contribute to breast cancer prevention.
The initiative emphasized that early detection remains the most important factor in increasing recovery rates and reducing complications.
The Ministry of Health and Population published an illustrated awareness guide on its official social media platforms. The guide contains a set of preventative guidelines that help reduce the risk of breast cancer and support early detection efforts.
Adopting a Healthy Lifestyle
The Ministry stressed the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle based on a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables, along with regular physical activity and maintaining a healthy weight.
This plays a crucial role in promoting overall health and reducing risk factors associated with developing tumors.
The Ministry also stressed the importance of consulting a specialist before using hormone replacement therapy to ensure its safe use under full medical supervision.
It further emphasized the importance of breastfeeding as a preventative measure that contributes to protecting the mother's health.
The Ministry also urged women to avoid smoking and all forms of tobacco products, given their link to an increased risk of developing numerous chronic diseases and tumors.
In the same context, the Ministry emphasized the importance of regular breast self-examination and recognizing signs and symptoms that may indicate abnormal changes, which facilitates prompt referral for specialized medical examination when needed.
The Ministry of Health and Population stressed that early detection is the cornerstone of combating breast cancer, affirming that discovering the disease in its early stages significantly increases recovery rates and makes the treatment process easier and less complicated.
The Ministry encouraged women to take advantage of the services offered by the Egyptian Women's Health Support Initiative and to inquire about service locations through the hotlines 15335 and 105.
It also advised following the official pages of the Ministry of Health and Population to find the nearest free screening units and centers located throughout the country.
