CAIRO – 11 June 2026: The Egyptian-Omani joint military exercise “Qalaat Al-Jabal–2” (the mountain’s fortress) has kicked off with the participation of Egyptian Ranger (Sa’aka) forces and Omani special forces, the Egyptian armed forces said on Thursday.
The drills are taking place over several days at combat training ranges at the Ranger Forces Headquarters, military spokesman Gharib Abdel Hafez said in a statement.
The first phase of the exercise included a series of theoretical lectures aimed at unifying operational concepts and enhancing integration and interoperability among participating personnel.

An exhibition of weapons and equipment used by both sides in the exercise was also held.
The training is scheduled to include a number of practical activities and missions aligned with planned objectives, aimed at exchanging tactical expertise and maximizing the benefit for participating forces, the spokesman said.
The exercise reflects the deep military relations between Egypt and Oman, supporting cooperation, coordination, and the exchange of expertise between the armed forces of both countries.
