CAIRO - 11 June 2026: The East Nile Monorail will continue to welcome passengers on Friday, with a 50% discount on the ticket price.

This initiative, launched by the Ministry of Transport, aims to encourage citizens to experience Egypt's newest green mass transit system and provide them with an affordable and convenient way to visit the New Administrative Capital.

Details and Schedule of the Initiative

The initiative includes a 50% discount on the full ticket price for passengers on the first phase of the monorail.

The Ministry explained that this discount will be in effect for three months from the start of operations and will be applied specifically on the following dates:

- Fridays and Saturdays of each week.

- Public holidays.

This step complements the state's efforts to build a sustainable transportation system and aims to achieve several benefits, most notably:

- Reducing traffic congestion: Encouraging citizens to use smart mass transit instead of private vehicles.

- A modern transportation experience: Providing a fast and safe means of transport to the New Administrative Capital via fully equipped, modern trains.

- An economical option: Providing flexible transportation alternatives suitable for all segments of society.

Phase 1 Stations

The monorail system serves passengers through 16 stations equipped to receive them: (Al-Moshir Tantawi, One Ninety, Air Force Hospital, Al-Narges, Investors, Lotus, Golden Square, Beit Al-Watan, Al-Fattah Al-Aleem Mosque, District R1, District R2, Finance and Business, City of Arts and Culture, Government District, Misr Mosque, and City of Justice).

Subscription Rules and Special Categories

The Ministry confirmed the continuation of the established rules for subscriptions and exempted categories.

Senior citizens (over 60 years old) and people with disabilities continue to receive half-price tickets permanently.

Periodic subscription prices (weekly, monthly, and quarterly) also remain fixed, ensuring that the total subscription cost is equivalent to one-quarter of the cost of alternative transportation.
