CAIRO – 10 June 2026: Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, received Osama Al-Azhari, Minister of Religious Endowments, on Wednesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two ministries.
The meeting included an exchange of views on strengthening coordination and cooperation to highlight Egypt's leading role in promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, and enlightened religious discourse, reflecting the country's prominent position at both the regional and international levels.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Religious Endowments to support Egypt's efforts to combat extremist ideology, correct misconceptions, and promote a culture of peace and coexistence. He noted the widespread international appreciation for Egypt's experience in these areas.
The two ministers also discussed ways to support the deployment of imams from the Ministry of Religious Endowments abroad to carry out preaching duties and promote enlightened Islamic teachings. They also reviewed plans to organize training courses for imams and preachers from various countries, contributing to the dissemination of moderate thought and the promotion of tolerance and coexistence.
For his part, Dr. Osama Al-Azhari praised the existing cooperation between the two ministries and stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to strengthen Egypt's intellectual and cultural presence internationally, as well as support initiatives aimed at promoting tolerance, dialogue, and mutual understanding among peoples.
