CAIRO – 10 June 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to supporting dam projects in DR Congo without causing harm to others as he spoke at a joint press conferece with DRC President Felix Tshisekedi in Cairo.

El-Sisi said he agreed with Tshisekedi on intensifying cooperation in transferring Egyptian expertise, providing technical support, and building and enhancing the capacities of national professionals in DRC.

El-Sisi also praised the DRC’s wise and responsible positions on Nile water issues.

"These positions are grounded in respect for international law and the rejection of unilateral measures among our fellow Nile River partners," El-Sisi said.

The twp leaders also stressed the importance of acting in good faith and fostering a spirit of understanding and consensus across the Nile Basin.

El-Sisi said discussions with his Congolese counterpart were productive and constructive, reflecting the shared determination of both countries to make optimal use of their capabilities.

The Egyptian president affirmed mutual determination to boost trade exchange between both countries, encourage investment, and expand cooperation in several key sectors, particularly water resources, irrigation, and project implementation.
