CAIRO - 8 June 2026: Palestinian Minister of Labor Dr. Inas Attari, stated that the State of Palestine views Egypt’s role in supporting the Palestinian cause as a historic and pivotal one that has never ceased. 

The Palestinian minister also expressed that Egypt’s role is a comprehensive role encompassing political, diplomatic and humanitarian dimensions. 

She emphasized that Egypt led an international effort during the International Labour Conference in Geneva, Switzerland, to support and solidify the rights of the State of Palestine within the organization.

 

What is the significance of the Egyptian position in defending Palestinian rights?

 

"Egypt has never treated the Palestinian issue as an emergency matter or a circumstantial issue, but rather as a central issue linked to its national principles and its Arab responsibility,” The Palestinian minister said, adding “this is reflected in its unwavering stances in defending Palestinian rights and rejecting any attempts to liquidate the issue or impose unjust solutions that diminish the rights of the Palestinian people."

She continued, "Egypt has played a clear and influential role in the political efforts aimed at ending the repeated wars on the Gaza Strip. 

She also went on highlighting Egypt’s role in leading serious ceasefire initiatives, acting as a responsible mediator trusted by all parties. Besides, she emphasized Egypt’s stance again the displacement of the Palestinian people.  

“The Palestinians' continued presence on their land is the core of the Palestinian cause and the foundation of any just and lasting solution,” she said.  

She went on explaining how Egypt has spearheaded significant humanitarian and development efforts, both through humanitarian aid and the shelter initiatives implemented by the Egyptian Committee.

“This includes opening the Rafah crossing in accordance with signed agreements and in coordination with the official Palestinian Authority, facilitating the entry of humanitarian and medical aid, and receiving the wounded,” she added.  

The Palestinian Minister of Labor affirmed that Egypt's role has been clearly prominent within specialized international organizations, particularly during the 114th session of the International Labour Conference in Geneva in 2016. 

Egypt contributed to supporting Palestinian rights within the International Labour Organization (ILO) and helped garner international support to preserve the gains Palestine has achieved and strengthen its presence within the organization. This reflects a continuous political and moral commitment to the Palestinian cause in its labor and human rights dimensions.
