This comes as part of the Egyptian state’s support for innovation in regenerative medicine.
The official Spokeserson for Health Ministry, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar explained that the meeting addressed the heart muscle grafting project.
This project relies on developing artificial heart tissue, using advanced stem. cells, with the aim of regenerating damaged heart muscle in patients with heart failure.
Improving the heart’s contractile ability
The recent researches focus on improving the heart’s contractile ability, and increasing its functional efficiency through the implantation of tissue grafts that promote the natural regeneration of heart tissue, thus enabling better long- term therapeutic outcomes.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar further emphasized that the meeting discussed the importance of collaboration between the research institutions and the regulatory bodies to transfer the promising technologies from the stage of scientific research to clinical trials, and then to safe therapeutic application according to international standards.
He also affirmed the state’s full support to pioneering medical research, ensuring the continuation of cooperation to accelerate the transfer of modern medical technologies to the Egyptian patients in order to achieve the highest levels of therapeutic benefit.

Egypt’s FM praises Cairo-Riga relations during meeting with Latvian counterpart
CAIRO - 6 June 2026: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad Dr. Badr Abdelatty met with Baiba Braže, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia, on Saturday, June 6, on the sidelines of the meeting of the Board of Governors of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
Minister Abdelatty congratulated the Latvian Foreign Minister on her reappointment to her post following the formation of the new Latvian government.
He praised the distinguished level of bilateral relations between the two countries and the commitment of both sides to further enhance cooperation in various fields, expressing his aspiration to elevate these relations to broader horizons.
The Foreign Minister commended the holding of the political consultations between the two countries in Cairo in January 2025 at the level of Assistant Foreign Ministers.
He emphasized the importance of holding this mechanism regularly to strengthen bilateral relations and provide a platform for consultation and the exchange of views on regional and international issues of common interest, as well as to follow up on the implementation of agreements reached during previous rounds.
Strengthening Economic Cooperation
The Foreign Minister highlighted the promising opportunities for enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the fields of digitalization and information technology.
He noted Latvia's advanced expertise in these areas and the attractive investment and partnership opportunities offered by ongoing digital transformation projects in Egypt.
He also emphasized the importance of exploring the establishment of a joint Egyptian-Latvian Business Council to strengthen communication between the business communities of both countries, encourage mutual investments, facilitate the exchange of expertise and capacity building, explore opportunities for cooperation with investment and financial institutions, and increase the volume of trade between the two countries to a level commensurate with available potential and the strength of bilateral relations.
In this context, Minister Abdelatty expressed his aspiration to enhance trilateral cooperation with Latvia in Africa, leveraging Egypt's strategic position as a regional hub for cooperation with the continent.
The two ministers also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, atop of which the latest developments in the US-Iran negotiations and Egypt's efforts to support regional security and stability and contain crises in the region.
The meeting also addressed developments in the Palestinian issue and the Ukrainian crisis, where the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts to reach peaceful solutions to the crises was emphasized, in order to contribute to strengthening security and stability at the regional and international levels.
Health Ministry: 30,103 medical services provided via Egyptian Hajj mission

CAIRO - 6 June 2026: Egyptian Ministry of Health announced it provided 30,103 medical services through the clinics of the Egyptian Hajj Medical Mission in Holy lands of Saudi Arabia.
The medical services were provided as of the arrival of the first group until Friday evening, June 5.
The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, confirmed that the overall health of all Egyptian pilgrims is stable and good, and that no outbreaks or spread of infectious diseases have been detected among them.
Dr. Abdel Ghaffar added that the Egyptian medical mission teams are working around the clock to provide the best preventive and curative services, ensuring the safety and comfort of the Egyptian pilgrims.
For his part, Dr. Ahmed Mustafa, the head of the Egyptian Hajj Medical Mission, explained that the total number of services provided on Friday reached 593 medical services in the clinics of Mecca and Medina.
Regarding cases receiving specialized care in Saudi hospitals, Dr. Ahmed Mustafa reported that the total number of currently hospitalized cases is 36, including 31 cases in Mecca (9 in inpatient wards, 7 in intermediate care, 14 in intensive care, and 1 in the neonatal unit) and 5 cases in Medina (3 in intensive care and 2 inpatient wards).
Dr. Ahmed Mustafa expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude for the outstanding and prompt medical care, and the professional support provided by Saudi hospitals to Egyptian pilgrims, which contributes to the improvement of their health and their rapid recovery.
The Ministry of Health and Population affirms its continued monitoring of Egyptian pilgrims in their accommodations, along with ongoing and full coordination with Saudi health authorities, to ensure the good health and complete safety of all pilgrims during the Hajj pilgrimage.

364 out of 709 railway stations fully developed: Transport Ministry

CAIRO - 6 June 2026: The network of the National Railways Authority of Egypt includes 709 train stations across the country.
These stations vary according to their classification, volume of traffic, to include: 30 main stations, 65 central stations, 73 medium stations, up to 541 of small categories and halt stopping points.
As part of the government’s pursuit to improve transport service, the process of developing and modernizing of 364 stations across the network has been fully completed.
These efforts were integrated with the national project for the development of rural Egypt, with 114 of these completed stations being operationalized and upgraded under the umbrella of the presidential initiative “Haya Karima.”
The Adly Mansour Central Station and the Upper Egypt Railway Station in the Bashteel area stand as unique architectural and cultural icons.
These two stations are considered among the most prominent smart stations not only locally but also globally, thanks to the advanced technological services they offer, ensuring the safety and punctuality of train operations.
Russian Foreign Ministry spot: We see huge opportunities for economic cooperation with Egypt

CAIRO - 6 June 2026: The Spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova discussed opportunities for economic cooperation between Russia and companies from countries of the Global South.
During her interview with Al-Qahera News TV Channel, Zakharova stated that Russia is successfully developing its relationship with Egypt.
“We always welcome Egyptian businessmen and Egyptian Business Community to come to Russia, and sign deals with the Russian side,” she continued.
She went on saying: “Our doors are always open to Egypt, and we also see huge opportunities for future cooperation with Egypt, as well as with countries in the region.”
