CAIRO – 6 June 2026: Lieutenant General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, held talks with Zukan Helez, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, during the latter’s official visit to Egypt.
The two defense ministers signed a cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing bilateral defense relations, said the Egyptian Ministry of Defence in a statement on Saturday.
An official reception ceremony was held at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, where military bands performed the national anthems of both countries.
The discussions focused on issues of mutual interest and explored opportunities to strengthen military cooperation between Egypt and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During the meeting, Lieutenant General Zaher highlighted the longstanding historical ties between the two countries and expressed appreciation for the growing defense partnership, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation in ways that serve the shared interests of both nations.
For his part, Helez commended Egypt’s significant role in promoting regional security and stability and expressed hope for deeper collaboration between the armed forces of the two countries in the coming period.
The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, senior commanders from the main branches of the Egyptian Armed Forces, a number of military officials from both countries, and the Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to Egypt.
