Egypt’s FM meets with Japanese National Security Advisor

CAIRO – 5 June 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, met on Friday with Keiichi Ichikawa, Japan’s National Security Advisor, during his bilateral visit to Japan.

The meeting addressed a range of regional and international developments of mutual interest.

The two sides exchanged views and assessments on developments in the Middle East, including the US-Iran negotiations, Egypt’s efforts to support regional security and stability and contain crises in the region, and key regional issues, most notably the Palestinian cause, Sudan, and developments in the Horn of Africa.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination and consultation in light of the strategic partnership between the two countries and the positive momentum witnessed in bilateral relations in recent years. They stressed the need to build on this momentum to strengthen various aspects of cooperation and advance the shared interests of the two friendly nations.

Minister Abdelatty conveyed an invitation from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to visit Egypt, reflecting the depth of the historic ties between the two countries and their mutual commitment to further elevating the Egyptian-Japanese strategic partnership to broader horizons.
