CAIRO – 5 June 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, held a phone call on Friday with his Somali counterpart, Abdisalam Abdi Ali.
The call addressed the latest developments in Somalia and ways to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance coordination between the two countries.
During the conversation, Abdelatty affirmed Egypt’s full support for Somalia and its national institutions, as well as its commitment to closely monitoring ongoing developments, particularly in the capital, Mogadishu. He emphasized the importance of maintaining Somalia’s security and stability.
The foreign minister also reiterated Egypt’s steadfast support for the unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia, as well as the preservation of its national institutions. He stressed Egypt’s firm rejection of any unilateral actions that infringe upon Somalia’s sovereignty or territorial integrity.
For his part, the Somali foreign minister praised Egypt’s continued support for Somalia at the political, developmental, and security levels. He expressed appreciation for Egypt’s consistent support for Somalia’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and underscored the importance of continuing coordination and consultation between the two countries on issues of mutual interest in pursuit of shared goals.
