CAIRO – 4 June 2026: Egypt will host the African Union’s 8th Mid-Year Coordination Summit and El-Alamein Africa Business Forum from June 24 to 27, according to Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Egypt’s state-owned news agency MENA reported.

Speaking during a meeting with reporters on Thursday, Khallaf said Egypt’s hosting of the two major events reflects the confidence it enjoys at the continental level and underscores its pivotal role in advancing economic integration and sustainable development across Africa.

The summit is expected to bring together a wide range of African heads of state and government, as well as representatives from the private sector, financial institutions, and African and international companies. Discussions will focus on strengthening economic cooperation and expanding investment partnerships among African countries.

Khallaf noted that Egypt’s hosting of the summit and business forum also demonstrates its commitment to supporting the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and promoting the private sector’s role as a key driver of economic growth and sustainable development of the continent.

The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also highlighted the growing strength of Egyptian-African relations, describing them as having undergone a qualitative transformation in recent years. He pointed out that Egyptian investments in African countries have surpassed $12 billion, while trade volume between Egypt and African nations has exceeded $10 billion.
