CAIRO - 4 June 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Thursday, June 4, 2026, with Austrian Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on various regional issues of mutual interest.

 

During the call, the minister affirmed Egypt's keenness on pressing ahead with joint efforts to enhance bilateral cooperation and coordination on regional and international issues within the framework of the political consultation mechanism signed in Cairo in June 2025.

 

Abdelatty stressed the importance of advancing bilateral relations across various fields, particularly in the economic, trade and investment sectors.

 

The foreign minister also congratulated his Austrian counterpart on Austria's election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term, expressing Egypt's aspiration to strengthen coordination and consultations with Austria during its membership to support international peace and security.

 

The two ministers also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region. Abdelatty reviewed Egypt's intensive contacts and efforts to support the US-Iranian negotiating track, highlighting Cairo's ongoing coordination with regional and international partners to contain tensions and promote de-escalation efforts across the region.

 

For her part, Meinl-Reisinger praised Egypt's constructive role, in coordinationwith its regional and international partners, in reducing tensions and enhancing stability in the region.

 

The two sides agreed to continue working together to strengthen bilateral relations and intensify coordination and consultations on various international and regional issues, emphasizing that diplomatic solutions remain the best option for achieving security and stability in the region.
