CAIRO - 4 July 2026: With the beginning of Ba'una, the tenth month in the ancient Egyptian calendar and one of the most prominent months of the summer harvest season, beekeepers across the country begin harvesting honey, also known as the Liquid Gold.

This month is historically and climatically linked to the peak of the honey harvest, driven by the unique geographical and environmental characteristics of this time of year.

Ba'una is considered the most opportune period in the Egyptian beekeeper's plan, as its rising coincides with the full bloom of summer flowers, as well as a decrease in atmospheric humidity that can affect the quality of the hives.

This prompts the bees to work at their maximum production capacity to store honey and cap the hexagonal cells, a vital sign that farmers await to begin the extraction process.

In this context, experts confirmed that the connection between Ba'una and the honey harvest is rooted in long-standing agricultural traditions.

Relatively High Temperatures

The relatively high temperatures during the month of Ba'una contribute to reducing the moisture content of natural honey to record lows, giving it a thicker consistency, richer flavor, and greater shelf life without spoilage.

Local and export markets eagerly await the influx of this season's production, which is characterized by high yields of clover blossom honey and summer herbs, varieties that enjoy high international demand.

The Agricultural Extension Sector provides technical support to beekeepers to ensure adherence to proper hygiene practices during harvesting and packaging, thus preserving the quality and competitiveness of Egyptian honey.
