CAIRO – 3 June 2026: U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that ongoing negotiations with Iran are making significant progress, expressing optimism about the possibility of achieving tangible results in the coming days as communication continues between the two sides on outstanding issues.

Trump stated that Washington would prefer to reach a written agreement with Tehran, if possible, emphasizing that any potential deal must include a clear Iranian commitment not to possess or develop nuclear weapons in the future.

The U.S. president added that recent developments in Iran have introduced new variables into the political landscape. He noted that the Iranian leadership has undergone several changes, making all scenarios possible at this stage.

Trump said the talks are progressing very positively and suggested that significant developments could emerge by the end of the week, though he declined to provide further details about the nature of any proposed understandings.

The U.S. president also addressed the situation in Lebanon, emphasizing that the ceasefire there differs from traditional de-escalation arrangements seen in other regions. He alluded to the complexities of Lebanon’s security and political landscape.
