Egypt’s FM meets with members of the Egyptian community in Japan

CAIRO – 3 June 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, met on Wednesday with members of the Egyptian community in Japan during his visit to Tokyo, in the presence of Ambassador Ragi El-Etreby, Egypt’s Ambassador to Japan.

During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Egyptian community in Japan in strengthening ties between the two countries and supporting bilateral relations across various fields.

He emphasized that Egyptians abroad represent a fundamental pillar of Egypt’s soft power and serve as ambassadors for their homeland around the world.

The Foreign Minister noted that maintaining regular communication with members of the Egyptian diaspora is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ ongoing commitment to providing the highest levels of care and attention to Egyptian citizens abroad and ensuring that they receive the necessary consular services.

He added that these efforts are in line with the directives of the President to provide comprehensive support to Egyptians abroad and strengthen their connection to their homeland.

Minister Abdelatty reviewed the Ministry’s efforts to develop consular services and advance digital transformation initiatives aimed at facilitating citizens’ access to various services while improving their quality and efficiency. He also highlighted initiatives launched in cooperation with relevant state institutions to address the needs of Egyptians abroad and enhance their access to services.

Minister Abdelatty listened to the views and suggestions of members of the Egyptian community on a range of issues, stressing the Ministry’s commitment to continuously improving communication mechanisms with Egyptians abroad and responding to their needs and aspirations.

He also expressed his anticipation of the participation of members of the Egyptian community in Japan in the seventh edition of the “Conference of Egyptians Abroad,” scheduled to take place on August 2–3, 2026. He noted the success of the sixth edition in fostering direct dialogue between Egyptians abroad and Egyptian state institutions.
