Egypt’s FM meets with several Japanese ministers and senior officials

CAIRO – 3 June 2026: As part of his visit to Japan, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates, Badr Abdelatty, held an extensive meeting on Wednesday with several Japanese ministers and senior officials, as well as prominent parliamentarians and representatives of think tanks, academic institutions, and other organizations.

Participants in the meeting included Masahisa Miyazaki, State Minister of Defense; Ayano Kunimitsu, State Minister for Foreign Affairs; Taro Kono, Member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party; Takagi, Head of the Foreign Relations Bureau of the Liberal Democratic Party; Sudamashi Oi, Special Advisor to the Japanese Prime Minister; Jun Nanazawa, Director of the Intelligence Service at Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Shinya Kurosawa, President of the Japan Foundation; as well as a number of Japanese parliamentarians, senior government officials, and representatives of Japanese think tanks, research institutions, and academic circles.

The meeting featured an exchange of views on the most significant regional and international developments. Minister Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s foreign policy priorities and its positions on various issues of mutual interest, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to pursuing a balanced foreign policy that supports security and stability while strengthening international cooperation to address shared challenges.

Minister Abdelatty also discussed ways to enhance the strategic partnership between Egypt and Japan across various political, economic, developmental, and cultural fields, building on the positive momentum in bilateral relations since they were elevated to the level of a strategic partnership.

He affirmed Egypt’s commitment to further strengthening cooperation with Japan as a key strategic partner and to expanding bilateral cooperation in priority areas in a manner that serves the common interests of both friendly nations and contributes to promoting security, stability, and development at the regional and international levels.

Minister Abdelatty also highlighted the positive indicators reflected in the performance of the Egyptian economy under the comprehensive economic reform program implemented by the state.

He pointed to Egypt’s competitive advantages and strategic location, which position it as a pivotal hub for manufacturing and regional and global supply chains. These advantages, he noted, offer promising opportunities for Japanese companies to expand their investments and diversify their production bases amid the challenges and transformations facing the global economy.
