Foreign Minister affirms support for security, stability efforts across Africa

CAIRO – 1 June 2026: Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, met with Angolan Foreign Minister Tete Antonio on Monday on the sidelines of the Korea-Africa Ministerial Meeting.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries and included consultations on a number of regional and international issues.

Minister Abdelatty expressed pride in the remarkable development in the Egyptian-Angolan relations across various sectors and praised the close coordination between the two countries in regional and international forums.

He also expressed his aspiration to build on the outcomes of the joint committee between the two countries and to enhance cooperation in the economic, trade, and investment sectors in a manner that serves the common interests of both nations.

The Foreign Minister reviewed the ongoing preparations for Egypt to host the first edition of the "El Alamein-Africa" Business Forum later this month on the sidelines of the midyear African Union Coordination Summit.

The two ministers also exchanged views on a number of African issues. Abdelatty reaffirmed Egypt's support for efforts aimed at achieving security and stability across the continent, including initiatives to resolve the situation in the Great Lakes region.

The ministers agreed to continue coordination and consultations in ways that contribute to strengthening security and stability, and advancing sustainable development across Africa.
