CAIRO- 30 May 2026: Dr. Amr Kandil, Deputy Minister of Health and Population, conducted an inspection tour of the quarantine facilities at Cairo International Airport to assess the readiness of medical teams and review preventive measures in place for arriving passengers.

The visit was carried out in line with directives from Minister of Health and Population Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar to continuously monitor and strengthen health surveillance systems at the country's entry points.

Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the ministry's official spokesperson, said the Deputy Minister inspected the quarantine facilities, the seasonal terminal, and Terminal 3 to ensure the efficient delivery of health services. He also reviewed the availability of trained medical personnel, essential medications, and medical supplies.

During the tour, Kandil monitored procedures for receiving pilgrims returning from the Mecca and Madinah in Saudi Arabia and reviewed the preventive measures implemented to safeguard their health and ensure a smooth arrival process.

The spokesperson added that the Deputy Minister also examined the protocols applied to flights arriving from countries with potential Ebola outbreaks. These measures include screening all passengers, conducting temperature checks, completing health declaration forms, and recording contact information, including phone numbers and addresses, to facilitate follow-up when necessary.

Kandil stressed the importance of continued monitoring of arrivals from affected areas for 21 days following their entry into the country. Follow-up is being carried out by preventive medicine teams in the governorates, with any suspected symptoms handled immediately in accordance with approved health protocols.

The measures form part of the Ministry of Health's broader efforts to maintain a high level of preparedness at all ports of entry and protect public health and the safety of citizens.
