Egypt, Arab, Islamic nations condemn Ben-Gvir actions against flotilla

CAIRO - 25 May 2026: Egypt joined seven Arab and Islamic nations in issuing a fierce condemnation of far-right Israeli Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir over his "appalling and humiliating" treatment of activists detained from the Gaza-bound freedom flotilla.

In a Sunday statement, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar stated that Ben-Gvir’s deliberate public humiliation of the detainees constitutes a flagrant violation of human dignity.

They stressed that these actions, which Ben-Gvir posted in a Wednesday video, openly breach Israel's obligations under international humanitarian and human rights laws.

The joint statement also strongly denounced ongoing acts of illegal incitement and extremist violence perpetrated by Ben-Gvir and other Israeli officials against Palestinians in the occupied territories.

The ministers warned that such provocative actions fuel hatred and extremism, directly undermining international efforts to secure a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.

Demanding full accountability, the bloc called for immediate, concrete measures to halt Ben-Gvir's repeated provocations and threats.

They concluded by demanding full protection for the human rights and dignity of all detainees, emphasizing that international law must be strictly respected throughout the occupied Palestinian territories.
