Implanted permanent pacemaker - CC
CAIRO - 23 May 2026: The medical team in the cardiac catheterization department at Al-Arish General Hospital successfully performed the first operation of its kind in the governorate's hospitals, implanting permanent pacemakers in two Palestinian brothers injured in the Gaza conflict.
The brothers had been diagnosed with a severe electrical malfunction in their hearts.
Dr. Amr Adel Abdel-Aal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in North Sinai, confirmed that this medical success comes within the framework of the Ministry of Health and Population's plan to develop the health system in the governorate and improve the efficiency of public and central hospitals.
This contributes to providing advanced medical services to citizens and visiting patients, especially in specialized and critical fields.
He explained that the medical team was able to perform the delicate cardiac intervention using the latest medical equipment and technologies.
The pacemakers were successfully implanted in the patients, whose health conditions stabilized after the operation. They are currently receiving medical care and close monitoring at the hospital.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in North Sinai indicated that hospitals in North Sinai are witnessing a significant leap in the level of therapeutic and specialized services, in addition to being supported by distinguished medical staff and modern equipment, in implementation of the state's directives to improve the health sector and alleviate the burden of travel and treatment for patients.
