File- Badr Abdelatty met with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the State of Qatar, on the sidelines of the Doha Forum.
CAIRO – 23 May 2026: A phone call took place between Badr Abdelatty and Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani to discuss developments in the ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran, as well as the rapidly evolving regional situation, within the framework of close coordination between Egypt and Qatar.
According to Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the two ministers exchanged views on the latest developments in the US-Iran negotiations, reflecting their shared commitment to ongoing coordination and joint efforts aimed at containing tensions and supporting de-escalation across the region.
The spokesperson added that both sides agreed on the importance of prioritizing dialogue and diplomacy as the primary means of addressing the current crisis.
The two ministers emphasized that continued serious negotiations remain the only viable path toward resolving outstanding issues and preventing the region from facing the consequences of uncontrolled escalation that could threaten regional peace and security.
They also stressed that the critical phase currently facing the region requires all concerned parties to demonstrate maximum flexibility and responsibility. In addition, they underscored the importance of taking into account the concerns of all sides as an essential foundation for achieving sustainable de-escalation and preventing the region from descending into a new cycle of conflict and instability.
