CAIRO – 21 May 2026: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly inspected several projects in the New Capital on Thursday to follow up on construction progress, including a visit to the Diplomatic District.

Following a series of meetings, the prime minister boarded the electric bus designated for transporting government employees from the Cabinet headquarters to the central bus station, marking the first stop on his tour.

Upon arriving at the station, Madbouly emphasized the importance of the major urban development project, which aims to connect the New Capital with various parts of the country.

He noted that the project will facilitate the movement of employees, citizens and visitors in a modern and efficient manner. The station also offers a range of services, transforming it from a transportation hub into a commercial, administrative and entertainment center in the heart of the New Administrative Capital.

The prime minister began his inspection tour by listening to a presentation from Colonel Rami Montaser, project manager and representative of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, who outlined the project’s components and advantages.

Montaser explained that the station is among the largest bus terminals in the world. Spanning 440,000 square meters, or approximately 105 acres, the project is strategically located near major routes including the Regional Ring Road and Northern Bin Zayed Road.

The station is also close to key areas such as the Government District, People’s Square and future expansion zones of the New Capital. The project aims to provide transportation services linking the capital to different parts of the country, while also offering diverse commercial, administrative and recreational facilities.

During his tour, Prime Minister Madbouly also inspected the Diplomatic District project. He was accompanied by Engineer Khaled Abbas, Chairman and Managing Director of the Administrative Capital for Urban Development Company, Major General Ashraf El-Husseini, and Major General Mohamed Saad Zaghloul, assistant heads of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority.

The prime minister began his tour of the Diplomatic District by inspecting a model embassy building under construction as part of the district’s embassy zone project.

Officials briefed him on the building’s layout, facilities and components, which include administrative offices, the ambassador’s office, meeting rooms, the ambassador’s residence, and a public services section featuring an archive room, lounges, a terrace overlooking the district and the main entrance hall.

Madbouly also received a presentation from officials of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority on the master plan for the embassy district project, including implementation rates and construction progress.

Officials explained that the project includes several embassy building models. These include 25 embassies built according to Design B — the model inspected during the tour — each covering 1,800 square meters and consisting of a ground floor and one upper floor.

The project also includes 25 embassies built according to Design A, each spanning 1,350 square meters; 130 embassies under Design C, each covering 4,225 square meters; and 44 embassies under Design D, each spanning 8,450 square meters. Officials noted that the variety of designs is intended to accommodate the differing needs of embassies.

During the tour, Madbouly reviewed the progress and completion rates of the district’s various components from a central observation point.

Project officials stated that the Diplomatic District includes 48 apartment buildings comprising a total of 1,120 residential units across 72 acres.

The district’s villa zone also includes 212 villas, consisting of 54 standalone villas (Type A), each covering 550 square meters; 64 semi-detached villas (Type C), each spanning 300 square meters; and 94 semi-detached villas (Type B), each covering 400 square meters.

Additionally, the Diplomatic District includes the construction of a five-star hotel on a 15-acre site. The hotel will include a basement level, a ground floor and seven upper floors, and will feature 286 hotel rooms and approximately 234 serviced hotel apartments.
