CAIRO – 19 May 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, met on Tuesday with members of the Egyptian community in London during his visit to the United Kingdom.
The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Ashraf Sweilem, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the United Kingdom, and Consul General Mohamed Abou El-Kheir, Consul General of the Arab Republic of Egypt in London.
During the meeting, Minister Abdelatty expressed his appreciation for the role played by the Egyptian community in the United Kingdom in strengthening ties between the two countries and supporting bilateral relations across various fields.
He also emphasized that meeting regularly with Egyptian communities abroad is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ consistent approach to providing the highest levels of care and attention to Egyptian citizens overseas and ensuring access to all consular services.
This approach aligns with the directives of His Excellency the President of the Republic to provide Egyptian citizens abroad with comprehensive care and attention and to strengthen their connection with their homeland.
The Foreign Minister reviewed the Ministry’s efforts to enhance digital transformation and develop consular service mechanisms, highlighting various initiatives launched in cooperation with state institutions. These initiatives aim to facilitate services for Egyptians abroad and improve the quality of services provided to them, including expanding the digitization of consular services.
He also reviewed the efforts of the Consulate General in London to facilitate communication with members of the Egyptian community.
Minister Abdelatty further expressed his anticipation for the participation of members of the Egyptian community in the United Kingdom in the seventh edition of the “Conference of Egyptians Abroad,” scheduled for August 2 and 3, 2026.
He noted the success of the sixth edition of the conference, held in Cairo in August 2025, describing it as a comprehensive national forum that brings together members of the Egyptian community abroad and Egyptian state institutions concerned with their affairs.
