Dr. Wagdy Amin, Director of the Chest Diseases Department at the Ministry of Health, explained that these efforts have contributed to a decrease in the percentage of smokers in Egypt (over 15 years old) to 14.2% in 2024, compared to 17% in 2022.

Dr. Wagdy Amin, Director of the Chest Diseases Department at the Ministry of Health and Population, affirmed the Ministry's continued efforts to raise community awareness, promote prevention and treatment of respiratory diseases, and protect citizens from the dangers of smoking.

Dr. Wagdy Amin, Director of the Chest Diseases Department at the Ministry of Health, explained that the primary goal is to protect current and future generations from the health, social, and economic risks of tobacco.

He stated that the "Lung Health" initiative stands out as a key pillar supporting the state's efforts to maintain the respiratory health of its citizens.

The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of various chest diseases and to provide health screening and assessment services to high-risk groups, thus facilitating early intervention and reducing health complications.
