FM Abdelatty discusses regional de-escalation efforts with Qatari PM

CAIRO – 18 May 2026: A telephone call took place on Monday between Badr Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad; and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar.

The call addressed joint efforts to de-escalate tensions and underscored the importance of concerted Arab, regional, and international efforts to support the path toward de-escalation.

Both ministers stressed that dialogue and diplomatic solutions are the only way to resolve the crises threatening regional security and stability.

In this context, the call touched on developments in the negotiations between the United States and Iran.

The two ministers agreed on the importance of resuming these negotiations to end the conflict, expressing hope that all parties would adopt responsible and prudent positions and fully rely on diplomatic solutions to resolve disputes in a way that preserves the resources of the peoples of the region.
