Egypt’s Foreign, Transport Ministers visit Eritrea to boost bilateral cooperation

CAIRO – 16 May 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, traveled to Asmara on a joint visit with Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir, Minister of Transport, accompanied by a number of prominent Egyptian business leaders and private sector representatives.

 

According to a statement issued by the Ministry, the visit aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two countries and expand economic and investment partnerships.

 

The two ministers and their delegation are scheduled to meet with several senior Eritrean officials to discuss ways to enhance bilateral relations, explore opportunities for cooperation in transport, infrastructure, investment, and trade, and exchange views on regional issues of mutual interest. The discussions are expected to contribute to security, stability, and development in the Horn of Africa.
