CAIRO – 15 May 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, received a phone call from Ahmed Attaf, Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Community Abroad.
The call addressed ways to strengthen the deep-rooted and fraternal relations between Egypt and Algeria.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of advancing joint cooperation to elevate bilateral relations across all fields in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of the two brotherly peoples and strengthens shared interests.
The foreign minister also stressed the importance of the two countries joining forces and enhancing coordination and consultation regarding various regional challenges.
The call touched on developments in Libya, which represent a shared priority for both countries. Both ministers emphasized the crucial importance of the tripartite mechanism of Libya’s neighboring countries and its role in coordinating common visions and positions.
Minister Abdelatty reviewed Egypt’s intensive efforts and contacts with various international and regional parties aimed at de-escalating regional tensions.
He stressed the importance of supporting negotiation and dialogue as the only way to contain the current crisis.
At the conclusion of the call, the two ministers agreed to continue close consultations and joint efforts to broaden the scope of cooperation in a way that serves mutual interests and supports regional stability.
