ENTEBBE – 13 May 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday renewed his invitation to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni to participate in the Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union, which Egypt will host in June 2026.

During talks in Entebbe, El-Sisi also invited Museveni to the African Business Forum (Alamein Africa Forum) held on the meeting’s sidelines, particularly in light of Uganda’s current chairmanship of the East African Community (EAC), the Egyptian Presidency said.

El-Sisi underscored the need for intensifying Egyptian-Ugandan cooperation on the African and global levels.

For his part, Museveni expressed his deep appreciation for Egypt’s active role on the African and international stages, praising the existing cooperation between the two countries as a model for the desired integration among African states.

Museveni outlined Uganda’s vision for achieving stability across Africa and ending conflicts.

The Ugandan leader stressed the importance of national and African-led solutions that take into account the continent’s specificities and delicate balances.

El-Sisi and Museveni held talks in Entebbe on bilateral relations, African cooperation, as well as several regional issues, including developments in Sudan, Libya, and the occupied Palestinian territory.

The meeting came a day after Museveni was sworn in for a seventh consecutive term following his January election victory, making him one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.
