ENTEBBE – 13 May 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said Egypt is keen to further strengthen cooperation with Uganda across various fields, during talks on Wednesday with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in Entebbe.

The meeting came a day after Museveni was sworn in for a seventh consecutive term following his January election victory, making him one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.

El-Sisi congratulated Museveni on his re-election, saying it reflects the Ugandan people’s confidence in his leadership, and expressed Egypt’s pride in its longstanding relations with Uganda and their growing momentum.

He stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in agriculture, irrigation and healthcare, as well as enhancing the participation of Ugandan personnel in Egyptian training programmes.

El-Sisi also highlighted Egypt’s interest in boosting trade and developing sustainable investment partnerships with Uganda.

Museveni, in turn, praised bilateral cooperation with Egypt as a model for African integration.

Museveni also reviewed Uganda’s efforts to achieve development under its 2040 vision.

He highlighted areas in which Uganda seeks to strengthen cooperation with Egypt, stressing that there are broad opportunities to further advance bilateral relations.
