CAIRO - 13 May 2026: The Ministry of Education is overhauling Mathematics and Science curricula across multiple grades in partnership with Japanese experts to align local learning with international standards, officials have confirmed.
In a Wednesday statement, the Ministry detailed that Primary 1, 2, and 3 will see updated Mathematics textbooks starting September.
While Arabic and English curricula remain unchanged under the Education 2.0 system, the new Math modules aim to replicate Japanese learning outcomes while adapting to the Egyptian classroom environment.
For Primary 4, 5, and 6, the Ministry will specifically update Science curricula to follow the Japanese model.
Preparatory levels remain largely unchanged for the upcoming year, but a new system for the third preparatory grade is scheduled for full implementation by the 2027 academic year.
The secondary stage will also see significant shifts, with new Science and Mathematics curricula introduced for the second-year Baccalaureate track.
The Ministry noted that this three-year plan aims to fully integrate the Japanese model into the national system while simultaneously prioritizing Arabic literacy and writing skills across all stages.
