NEW YORK – 13 May 2026: Classified US intelligence assessments cited by The New York Times indicate that Iran has retained around 70% of its mobile missile launchers and prewar missile stockpile.
This comes despite repeated US administration claims that Tehran’s military capabilities had been severely degraded.
The assessments, based on satellite imagery and other surveillance data, also found that Iran has regained access to nearly 90% of its underground missile storage and launch facilities.
Many of these facilities are now considered partially or fully operational, according to officials familiar with the findings.
Along the Strait of Hormuz, Iran has successfully regained operational access to 30 out of 33 missile sites, according to the assessments.
Trump previously told CBS News that Iran’s “missiles are down to a scatter” and that the country had “nothing left in a military sense.”
