CAIRO – 11 May 2026: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met on Sunday with Belqasim Khalifa Haftar, Director General of the Libyan Development and Reconstruction Fund, and his accompanying delegation.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister welcomed Engineer Belqasim Khalifa Haftar and his delegation, emphasizing the depth of the Egyptian-Libyan relations and the ongoing commitment to supporting and strengthening cooperation across various fields and sectors.

The Prime Minister noted his keen interest in monitoring the implementation of joint projects in numerous sectors and the development initiatives taking place in Libya, expressing his hope for further cooperation that will benefit both nations.

During the meeting, Haftar thanked the Prime Minister for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, affirming Egypt's role in supporting the stability of Libya. He expressed his gratitude to the leadership, government, and people of Egypt for their continued support of Libya and its people.

Haftar highlighted the role of Egyptian companies in achieving various aspects of development in Libya, stating: "Egyptian companies have made significant contributions and implemented massive development projects."

The Prime Minister pointed out that Egyptian companies possess extensive expertise in numerous fields and sectors, particularly in development and service projects. He also highlighted the fraternal relations and close ties with Libya, affirming readiness for further contribution in various development projects.

Haftar noted that Egyptian companies have demonstrated their efficiency and the quality of their work in various projects, particularly road projects. He explained that efforts are currently underway to secure major contracts in the field of public housing among other sectors, citing the cooperation in the city of Derna as an example.

“Egypt has achieved a tangible developmental renaissance over the past ten years, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi,” Belqasim Khalifa Haftar stated.

He pointed out that the city of Derna has transformed from a disaster-stricken city into a developed one, boasting a number of distinguished service and development projects, and a comprehensive infrastructure.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the several projects being implemented by Egyptian companies in five Libyan cities.

“What Egyptian companies have accomplished in Libya is something the Libyan people have long needed, achieving remarkable progress rates across various projects,” Belqasim Khalifa Haftar reaffirmed.
