Egypt, Turkey discuss efforts of regional de-escalation

CAIRO - 11 May 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty held a phone call with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan Monday to discuss distinguished bilateral relations between Egypt and Turkey and explore ways to further enhance cooperation across various fields.

During the call, the two ministers reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing joint cooperation and elevating bilateral ties in a way that wpould help serve the common interests of the two friendly nations and fulfill the aspirations of their peoples for greater development and prosperity.

The call also addressed ongoing efforts to reduce regional tensions. The two sides reviewed the latest developments regarding the negotiation track between the US and Iran, emphasizing the critical importance of supporting diplomatic negotiations.

They further stressed that dialogue and diplomatic solutions remain the only viable path toward de-escalation and ending conflicts in the region.

The Egyptian and Turkish foreign ministers voiced hope that all parties would adopt responsible and prudent stands, relying fully on diplomacy to resolve disputes peacefully.

They further underscored that sustainable regional security and stability could only be achieved through political solutions that preserve the interests and resources of the peoples of the region.
