CAIRO – 7 May 2026: The Ministry of Transport, represented by the National Authority for Tunnels, continues to offer free services to passengers for the second consecutive day on the first phase of the East Nile Monorail project.

The free trial run extends from Al-Moshir Tantawy Station to Al-Adala Station in the New Capital, attracting a significant number of citizens eager to experience Egypt's newest mode of transportation.

The decision to offer free service comes as part of the state's celebrations of the inauguration of the East Nile Monorail, a landmark in sustainable green public transportation.

The Authority announced that the stations will remain open free of charge to the public on Friday as well, giving citizens the best possible opportunity to familiarize themselves with the monorail route and the services offered within the stations and on the trains.

The East Nile Monorail marks Egypt's entry into the era of smart trains, as it is the first driverless train in the country.

The monorail boasts a modern design and adheres to international safety standards, providing a fast and safe journey connecting Cairo's neighborhoods to the New Capital in record time, thus contributing to easing traffic congestion and shortening travel times.

The first phase, currently in operation, serves a wide range of passengers, starting from the Al-Moshir Tantawi station, a key hub, and extending to the Al-Adala station in the heart of the New Administrative Capital.

The project is planned for completion, connecting Nasr City and all of East Cairo's districts to the new capital, thus boosting investment opportunities and urban development in these areas.
