CAIRO - 6 May 2026: Egyptian airports recorded strong operational performance during April 2026, according to monthly air traffic data. The total number of flights reached 17,712, comprising 8,879 arrivals and 8,833 departures.
 
The total number of passengers reached 2,305,226, including 1,136,393 arrivals and 1,168,833 departures, reflecting the high level of operational activity and continued efficiency across all airports.
 
Hurghada International Airport
 
Starting with Hurghada International Airport, it continued to lead in terms of total traffic, recording 7,125 flights, including 3,563 arrivals and 3,562 departures.
 
The total passenger traffic reached 1,065,275 passengers, with 514,844 arrivals and 550,431 departures, reflecting the high volume of inbound and outbound tourist traffic through the airport.
 
 
Sharm El Sheikh International Airport
 
Sharm El Sheikh International Airport came in next place in terms of operational volume, recording 4,916 flights, including 2,458 arrivals and 2,458 departures.
 
It also recorded a passenger traffic of 761,748 passengers, including 374,192 arrivals and 387,556 departures, reflecting the city's prominent tourist status and increasing popularity.
 
 
Luxor International Airport
 
Luxor International Airport also witnessed significant activity, with a total of 1,331 flights, comprising 667 arrivals and 664 departures.
 
The total passenger traffic reached 131,076, including 71,630 arrivals and 59,446 departures, reflecting the diversification of operations and the increasing tourist demand in the city.
 
 
Aswan International Airport
 
In a related context, Aswan International Airport recorded 963 flights, with 482 arrivals and 481 departures.
 
The total passenger traffic reached 98,435, including 44,400 arrivals and 54,035 departures, reflecting the continued operational activity at the airport.
 
 
Alexandria International Airport
 
Alexandria International Airport recorded 921 flights, comprising 461 arrivals and 460 departures, with a total passenger traffic of 97,411 passengers, including 49,424 arrivals and 47,987 departures.
 
 
Sphinx International Airport
 
Sphinx International Airport recorded 690 flights, comprising 346 arrivals and 344 departures, with a total passenger traffic of 78,382 passengers, including 42,171 arrivals and 36,211 departures.
 
 
Assiut International Airport
 
Assiut International Airport recorded 1,388 flights, comprising 694 arrivals and 694 departures, with a total passenger traffic of 24,501 passengers, including 13,899 arrivals and 10,602 departures, reflecting the smooth and efficient operation of the airport.
 
 
Sohag International Airport
 
Continuing its stable operational performance, Sohag International Airport recorded 378 flights, comprising 189 arrivals and 189 departures.
 
The total passenger traffic reached 48,398, including 25,833 arrivals and 22,565 departures.
 
In this context, Captain Wael El-Nashar affirmed that the performance indicators during April reflect the efficiency and flexibility of the operational system at Egyptian airports, and its ability to handle various operational and regional changes.
