CAIRO - 6 May 2026: Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and Population, held an important meeting with Ambassador Eric Chevallier, the French Ambassador to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation.
 
Also present were Dr. Nima Abed, the World Health Organization Representative in Egypt, Dr. Amal Imam, Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent, and representatives from the company "Elevate," to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in treating Palestinian children with cancer.
 
The Minister emphasized the Egyptian state's commitment to providing all forms of medical and humanitarian support to the Palestinian people, stressing Egypt's continued leading role in receiving patients and providing them with comprehensive healthcare, reflecting its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause.
 
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar explained that the Ministry is working to strengthen international partnerships with specialized medical institutions to provide the highest levels of care for children with cancer, while utilizing all available resources to ensure they receive the latest global treatment protocols.
 
For his part, the French Ambassador expressed his country's deep appreciation for Egypt's efforts in supporting and treating injured Palestinians, affirming France's readiness to strengthen cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Health and support humanitarian initiatives aimed at caring for Palestinian children. He also commended the existing coordination among the relevant parties.
 
The meeting discussed the final arrangements for signing a cooperation protocol between Gustave Roussy Hospital Egypt and the French Embassy. This protocol will allocate a number of beds for treating Palestinian children with cancer, with support from the Egyptian Red Crescent. The protocol is expected to be signed in the coming weeks, paving the way for the hospital to begin receiving patients.
 
Attending the meeting from the Ministry of Health were: Dr. Sherif Mostafa, Assistant Minister for National Projects; Dr. Maha Ibrahim, Head of the Specialized Medical Centers Secretariat; Dr. Mohamed El-Aqqad, Director of the Specialized Medical Councils; and several other ministry officials. Representatives from the French Embassy, ​​the World Health Organization, Elevate Company, and Gustave Roussy Hospital were also present.
