CAIRO - 5 May 2026: Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held a Tuesday phone call with Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali to discuss regional developments and ways to strengthen bilateral ties.
Abdelatty praised the growing momentum in Egypt-Somalia relations, reaffirming Egypt's full support for Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He emphasized Egypt's total rejection of unilateral actions affecting Somali lands and condemned the Israeli recognition of the so-called Somaliland as a flagrant violation of international law and the African Union Charter.
The foreign minister underscored Egypt's commitment to providing political and security support through national training programs.
He also stressed the importance of mobilizing sustainable funding for the African Union Support and Stabilization Mission in Somalia to ensure it fulfills its mandate.
For his part, the Somali minister reviewed internal security updates and government stabilization efforts, expressing deep appreciation for Egypt’s support.
The two ministers agreed to maintain intensive consultation to bolster stability in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea regions.
