CAIRO - 5 May 2026: The Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population announced the intensification of its efforts to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of heart disease, emphasizing that prevention is the first line of defense against sudden heart attacks, as part of the "100 Million Healthy Lives" initiative.
Heart Disease
The Ministry explained that early detection is "your weapon of protection," as it helps identify risk factors that may lead to heart disease, most notably high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol, which are among the leading causes of heart complications.
It added that regular checkups enable monitoring of health and early intervention before the disease progresses, contributing to a reduction in the incidence and mortality rates resulting from heart disease, which is one of the most widespread diseases.
The Ministry of Health stressed the importance of starting early screening based on medical history. It is recommended to begin screenings at age 20 if there is a family history of heart disease, while it can begin at age 30 if there is no such history.
The ministry also urged citizens to take advantage of the free screening services available through presidential initiatives and to visit their nearest health unit to check on their health, emphasizing that early detection is a simple step that can save lives.
The ministry noted that the hotlines 15335 and 105 have been designated to receive inquiries and provide support and information to citizens, as part of the state's commitment to promoting health awareness and improving quality of life.
