CAIRO - 5 May 2026: The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a stern statement today, condemning in the strongest possible terms the drone attack targeting Khartoum International Airport.

Egypt described the assault as a "flagrant violation of Sudan’s sovereignty" and a direct threat to civilian infrastructure and the well-being of the brotherly Sudanese people.

The statement warned that such dangerous escalations further complicate the security and humanitarian crisis in Sudan, obstructing serious efforts to reach a humanitarian truce. Egypt expressed deep concern over reports indicating that these attacks originated from the territory of a neighboring country, a development that threatens to widen the scope of the conflict across the region.

Rejecting Foreign Interference Reiterating its unwavering stance, Egypt reaffirmed its total rejection of all forms of foreign interference in Sudanese internal affairs. The Ministry emphasized the necessity of respecting Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, while calling for full adherence to the principles of "Good Neighborliness" as mandated by international law and the UN Charter.

Egypt concluded by reasserting its support for U.S.-led efforts within the "International Quad" to establish a comprehensive ceasefire and launch a Sudanese-led political process, free from external pressures, to achieve the stability the Sudanese people deserve.
