CAIRO - 5 May 2026: Law No. 178 of 2020, amending certain provisions of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Law issued by Law No. 82 of 2002, aims to strengthen the protection of intellectual property rights, particularly for persons with disabilities, and to encourage creativity in the fields of culture and the arts.

This stems from the state's commitment to supporting young creators and encouraging their creativity in these fields.

According to Article (185) of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Law, the competent ministry shall establish a register for recording transactions related to works, performances, sound recordings, and radio programs subject to the provisions of this law.

The executive regulations of this law shall specify the registration system in the register, with a registration fee not exceeding one thousand Egyptian pounds.

Applicants under the age of twenty-one are exempt from the fee mentioned in this article, as are those covered by the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities issued by Law No. 10 of 2018. In all cases, the transaction shall not be valid against third parties until registration is completed.
