CAIRO - 4 May 2026: Egypt strongly condemned the blatant attack that targeted a UAE crude oil tanker while passing through the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement released by the Foreign Ministry on Monday, Egypt said the targeting of commercial vessels and the disruption of international maritime routes constitute a flagrant violation of international law principles that guarantee freedom of navigation.

Egypt warned that such acts pose a serious threat to regional security and stability, as well as to global energy supplies and the free flow of international trade.

The statement affirmed Egypt’s full solidarity with the UAE and its support for all measures it takes to safeguard the Gulf country's security and national interests, while reiterating its firm rejection of any actions that undermine the security and stability of Gulf states.

Egypt underscored the UAE’s security is an integral part of Egypt’s national security, highlighting the close and inseparable link between the security of the UAE, Egypt and the wider region, the statement concluded.
