CAIRO – 4 May 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met on Monday with Mathias Cormann, Secretary-General of the OECD, on the sidelines of the high-level conference concluding the first phase of the Egypt-OECD Country Program. The meeting focused on the successful completion of the initial phase and the roadmap for future partnership.
Prime Minister Madbouly expressed his appreciation for the close coordination between Egypt and the organization, noting that the partnership is a fundamental pillar supporting Egypt's National Structural Reform Program and the broader goals of "Egypt Vision 2030."
He emphasized that these efforts have significantly bolstered the Egyptian economy's resilience against regional and international shocks.
The Prime Minister underscored the importance of Egypt’s co-chairmanship of the MENA-OECD Initiative for the 2026–2030 period, which aims to develop mechanisms that meet regional development priorities.
He also welcomed Egypt's accession as a "Participant" to the OECD’s Committee on Small and Medium Enterprises, a move expected to foster innovation and entrepreneurship.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister expressed Egypt's long-term goal of fulfilling all requirements for full membership in the organization. Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom both highlighted how the Country Program has served as a strategic guide for structural reforms, leading to positive growth rates despite global geopolitical challenges.
Secretary-General Mathias Cormann commended Egypt's current momentum and expressed his commitment to supporting the launch of the second phase of the Country Program. He praised the structural reforms that have enabled Egypt to navigate the economic repercussions of regional developments and voiced his support for Egypt's continued alignment with the organization's standards.
