CAIRO – 4 May 2026: The Assistant Minister of Interior for Administrative Affairs and Head of the Executive Committee of the Ministerial Hajj Committee has announced the commencement of departures for this year's lottery pilgrims to the Holy Land.
He confirmed that the Ministry of Interior's mission has finalized all logistical arrangements to ensure a comfortable and safe spiritual journey for the pilgrims. According to the official schedule, the first group of flights is set to depart, Monday, May 4, bound for Medina. Direct flights to Mecca are scheduled to follow beginning May 7.
The mission head explained that, in accordance with the directives of Minister of Interior Mahmoud Tawfik, an unprecedented "service package" has been introduced for the first time within the lottery Hajj system. This initiative places a special focus on the elderly and people with disabilities to provide them with maximum comfort.
Preparations for the season included upgrading the transport fleet and the accommodation system in hotels located near the Two Holy Mosques. Improvements were also made to the baggage handling process, and comprehensive medical care will be available through fully equipped clinics operating around the clock.
He emphasized that all mission members are on full alert, with the ultimate goal of overcoming any obstacles facing the pilgrims from their departure until their safe return home.
