CAIRO – 3 May 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Sunday commended efforts to prepare the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group’s 2027-2031 Country Strategy for Egypt during a meeting with AfDB Group's President Sidi Ould Tah.

El-Sisi expressed hope that the strategy would align with Egypt’s national priorities and plans, particularly Egypt Vision 2030, and support state efforts to enhance the role of the private sector as a key driver of sustainable and inclusive development.

The AfDB Group is a multilateral development finance institution comprising the African Development Bank and the African Development Fund (ADF).

During the meeting, the AfDB president affirmed his commitment to working closely with the Egyptian government to enhance their long-standing cooperation.

Tah congratulated Egypt on the economic reforms undertaken over the past decade and on the resilience of its economy in the face of global challenges.

He also stressed the importance of studying Egypt’s experience and sharing it with other African countries.

El-Sisi noted the current economic and geopolitical challenges affecting development efforts across African countries, underscoring the importance of the AfDB and ADF’s role in mobilizing financial resources and providing technical support to countries in the continent.

He also stressed the importance of infrastructure and cross-border projects in Africa, which contribute to strengthening regional integration and promoting sustainability and high developmental impact.

He noted that such projects also help facilitate the movement of goods and passengers and support national economies.

In this regard, El-Sisi highlighted the strong experience of Egyptian companies in implementing major development projects across African countries, affirming Egypt’s readiness to share its expertise with the AfDB, the ADF and African partner countries.

He also stressed the need to intensify efforts and coordination with partners to mobilize the financial resources required to finance such projects across the continent.

Talks also covered Egypt’s upcoming hosting of the inaugural Alamein Africa Forum in June.

Egypt reaffirmed its continued support for the AfDB Group and its commitment to further strengthening cooperation and joint coordination between both sides.
