WASHINGTON – 3 May 2026: US President Donald Trump on Sunday said he will be reviewing a plan from Iran to end the war but said he “can’t imagine that it would be acceptable.”

Iran has submitted a 14-point response to a US proposal via mediator Pakistan, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, outlining terms that call for resolving key issues within 30 days instead of a US-proposed two-month ceasefire.

Citing sources, Tasnim said the Iranian proposal focuses on ending the war rather than extending a temporary truce.

The plan calls for guarantees against further military action, a US troop withdrawal from areas surrounding Iran, and the lifting of the US naval blockade.

It also includes releasing frozen assets and easing sanctions, along with ending fighting across multiple fronts, including Lebanon, and establishing a new framework for the Strait of Hormuz.

“I will soon be reviewing the plan that Iran has just sent to us, but can’t imagine that it would be acceptable in that they have not yet paid a big enough price for what they have done to Humanity, and the World, over the last 47 years,” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Trump told reporters on Saturday that he could order new military strikes against Iran if it “misbehaves.”

Speaking to Axios, two sources familiar with the proposal said Iran outlined a two-stage plan setting a one-month deadline to secure an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, lift the naval blockade and end the war in Iran and Lebanon.

A second month of talks will then focus on the Iranian nuclear program.
